Our Failed Photo Shoot

We decided to try and take pictures of the kids in their Halloween costumes. We didn't have any from Halloween and I wanted to scrapbook them. So of course, no one wanted to participate. Andrew's costume was off in 2 minutes and Ashley cried the whole time. As soon as we put her under the lights she would crawl away. These were about the only decent pictures we got out of the whole time. So frustrating.

Mmmmmm Bacon Grease

I was working on the pile of dishes I had accumulated last night, a rarity as many of you know. Andrew came and asked for a drink of juice.

"Just a minute," I told him.

But he was not to be deterred. He looked on the counter by the stove. "Why wait for for mom when there is a perfectly good cup of juice just sitting right there," he thought.

I turned around just in time to see it happen. He grabbed the cup and took a gulp. Instead of apple juice he had grabbed a cup of bacon grease. He looked at me, both shocked and sad and then swallowed. As soon as he could open his mouth again he was crying and saying "yuck".

Luckily, it was completely cool, so there were no burns. I quickly got him a cup with real juice in it, laughing hysterically the whole time. Flay and I got quite the laugh out of the whole thing, and we got more calories down him in one swig then we probably had all night in trying to get him to eat his dinner.

Christmas Cookies

Andrew worked very hard on decorating his cookies. He took the job of putting sprinkles on them very seriously. Unfortunately, he went a little overboard.

The finished product was delicious, and we had a great time making them. Andrew was very proud of the cookies he decorated, and enjoyed the best part, picking out which ones to eat!

Playing in the Snow

We have had a slow start to the ski season here, with no real snowfall until this weekend. It snowed all weekend. This was Ashley's first time out in the snow. She liked it for a few minutes, but soon was done. Andrew wanted to help daddy shovel the snow. He too did not last long. The first fall without gloves was a little to cold for him.

Andrew's Chair

Andrew has a favorite chair. It is rather ironic that we have bought him two kid sized chairs, but his favorite is one of our recliners. He piles his Catty and Stripey into it and watches TV there. It is also where he takes all of his naps. He has me pop up the legrest, which he thinks is awesome, and then enters and exits over the side. He does not like Ashley to sit in his chair, and I was surprised he let me take this picture of the two of them.

Yummy Spaghetti

Ashley has had access to a much wider selection of food at a much younger age then her brother. I have been much more relaxed about what table food I give her, figuring she mostly swallows everything whole anyway. So after giving her a bite of my spaghetti, I decided to make her a bowl. At first I thought I was going to feed her, but she had other ideas. She grabbed the bowl and dug in with both hands. Soon there was spaghetti everywhere. She had a great time playing until we tried to clean up. Then she decided she was done and wanted to get up.

Ashley's First Steps

Ashley took her first steps just two days before her first birthday. We were staying at Flay's mom's house for Thanksgiving. We knew she had been close for a while, taking just one little step when she knew we would catch her. Finally, that night, she stood up and took three little steps. She was so proud. She then stood back up and took about six steps and tried to kick a ball. I should have known that meant trouble. After just two weeks she is now walking proficiently and has figured out how to walk up the stairs using the pickets to pull herself up. It makes my heart drop everytime.
