July 4th

We had a great time of the 4th of July. We started the morning by going to the pool, which was nice as it was hot but not too crowded. We played with the Pullmans and Egberts and ate lunch there, which was a lot of fun.

After naps we went to a 1/2 of the neighborhood picnic for dinner. That was fun. Flay found the one small shady spot on a hill next to a trash can. We crammed three families into it and it was a little tight, but out in Colorado being in the shade can make an almost 20 degree difference, so it was worth it.

We then hurried home and got the stuff ready to go see fireworks. That involved packing jammies, sweatshirts and blankets. We headed up to the Airforce Academy with the Egberts and their neighbors who are both teachers at the Academy. We were supposed to meet up with the Pullmans, but I lost cell phone reception. The people we went with knew exactly where to sit. We were pretty close to them and at the bottom of a huge hill. That worked out great as the kids ran up and down it for the 2 hours we had to wait. Also, there was no one around us, so we didn't have to worry about losing the kids. It got cold, we were all in sweatshirts and blanket sleepers. I LOVED the weather for the 4th. I have memories of being so hot I wanted to throw up on the 4th back East. The fireworks were great and the kids loved them. Ashley asked for more the whole way to the car, in the car until she fell asleep, and this morning. It was a great time.

Andrew riding his Lightning McQueen tricycle around the faux lake. Everything involving water here is man-made. We hardly saw him the whole day he was so busy playing with his different friends.
